MynameisHarryLin.OnMay25,1958,IwaorninXinying,alittletowniouthernFujian.Myfatherisafarmer,plantingbananasandpineales,andmymothertakescareofthehouse.Ihavetwobrothersandonesister.Thoughnotwell-to-do,myparentshavebeenabletoprovidethewholefamilywithsufficientmeatolivedecentlyandenjoyallmodernconveniences.　
　Myearlyeducationwasreceivedinmyhometown,i.e.sixyearsirimaryschoolandthreeyearsinjuniormiddleschool.Aftercompletingnineyearsofformaleducationin1958.IwenttoXiamenandparticipatedinthejointentranceexaminationforfive-yearjuniorcolleges.Fortunately,IwasadmittedtotheDepartmentofElectricalEngineeringatXiamenJuniorEngineeringCollege.IchoseElectricalEngineeringasmymajorbecause,ontheonehand,IlikedPhysicsverymuch;andontheotherhand,electricalindustryisamajorsectoroftheeconomyofChina.　　ThefiveyearsofinteivetrainingcametoanendinJune1978whenIreceivedadiploma.AndinJuly1980.IwashiredbyNanYaplasticCompanyandhaveservedasajuniorelectricalengineeratthecompanytothepresent.Ienjoytheworkandfeelcompetentforthejob.
　　Inworking,however,IveFoundthatwhatIhavelearnedichoolislimitedandfarfromsufficienttohandlesophisticatedjo.Therefore,IhavedecidedtoextendmyeducationandwouldliketoenteranAmericanititutionfirstlytoearnaBachelorsdegreeinElectricalEngineering.Then,ifpoible,IwouldliketocontinuemyeducationtowardaMastersdegree.
　　Afterthisobjectiveisreached,Iwillreturntomycountryandseekajobinapublicfirm.MostprobablyIwillcontinuetoworkwithNanYaPlasticCompany.
